Week 9...The Final countdown!

 KAYA and Good Evening Year 6 Parents

Well, this it is...This is the last Primary School Blog for this year, and the perhaps the last for some of you.  What a great year we have had...lots of laughter and learning!  We are so proud of the students and leaders they have become. 

We have had a fabulous day out today with all the Year 6 students.  We are sure there are a fair few tuckered out, hopefully getting rest before their big final day of Priamry School tomorrow.

A sincere thank you for all of your support, patience and kindness you have all shown us over the past year.  Thank you for your support and willingness to help in anyway.  We have certainly felt and appreciated this support throughout the year. 



GRADUATION
The mass will commence tomorrow we ask that you are seated and settled at least 10 minutes prior to this. The students are to wear their full formal summer uniform to this event. They can pack their sport uniform with their leavers shirt in their bag for the assembly and their clothes for the colour run.  

Please see a reminder of the timeline below for the day, as per Amie's email earlier in the week:

  • 8.40am - Graduates, parents, and guests (including grandparents and siblings), arrive at the church via own transport. Students are to wear formal summer uniform please. Please be prompt.
  • 9.00am - Year 6 Graduation Mass commences at the church.
  • 10.00am - Year 6 Awards Ceremony at the church. Information pertaining to the awards is included below.
  • 11.00am - Please provide your child with a small crunch and sip snack in between transporting them from the church and school. Please return your children to their classes, before making your way with the other adult guests to the undercover area to begin morning tea. The Year 6 students will change into their Leavers shirts and shorts before joining you and other guests for morning tea. Please note that siblings have not been factored into catering for the Graduation morning tea and should stay with their classes to have their crunch and sip and/or morning tea as per normal.
  • 11.45am - Morning Tea concludes
  • 12.00pm - Whole school farewell assembly in the hall. This will involve:
    • Performance of the Graduation song.
    • Presentation of the Graduation certificates.
    • The Principal's address.
    • The Year 6 Cohort Address.
    • The "Passing of the Light" ceremony.
    • Farewell to the graduates. I believe the formalities will conclude around 1.00pm, when students will be released for lunch, and they will conclude the day with the P&F colour run. Students can bring another change of clothes for the run if they wish.
At the church each student has a pew (labelled with name tags): there is not a lot of room however there is additional seating for additional family and friends at the back of the church or upstairs in the church.

Please note that throughout the ceremony at the church, there will be a celebration of those families departing the OLC community in 2023.  This is where the parents of the families who no longer have any children attending OLC after 2023 will be asked to stand in place. We just wanted to make you aware of this, so you aren't confused when this happens tomorrow.

We are looking forward to seeing you all tomorrow and sharing in such a momentous occasion with the 'Class of 2023'. It is going to be something special...have those tissues ready!




EXCURSION EXTRAVAGANZA
The excursion was wonderful and it was such a fabulous way to spend the second last day with the students.  We would like to extend my thank you and appreciation to the students for their exceptional behavior.  A special thanks to the Year 6 parents who attended to assist in monitoring some of the groups. 




COLOUR RUN
Tomorrow the Colour Run will also take place at 2pm. As we have Graduation earlier that morning the students will need to bring in a change of clothes for the colour run, as they will be wearing their formal summer uniform in the morning. It may be a good idea to also have your child pack a towel and a reusable bag for any wet or coloured items at the end.

  K AY A, Can you believe that there is only 15 days left in Primary School for your child? WOW! Not only that but most of these days will include end of year excursion, practice at the Church and in the hall for Graduation and lots of end of year preparations!  Year 6 End of Year Gift  A massive thank you to the three wonderful parents who came along on Wednesday in week 6 to complete the end of year 6 gift artwork. The students did a really wonderful job on their own individual paver, which together will make up the OLC Reconciliation Pathway to the Aboriginal area at the back of the school. What an amazing legacy to leave behind - so watch this space! Well done team! Graduation Practice and Year 6 Busy Bee  Graduation Practice will start down at the Church in week 7 and 8.   K AY A, I hope you have all had a tremendous break with this cracker sunshine. 🌞 I cannot wait to see the 6M family back in the classroom for an AWESOME term 4! We are going to end their time at OLC with smiles, busy times, Confirmation, Graduation, Excursions, Incursions and lots of learning! So, without further ado, let's get into it!  How awesome were the costumes for book week? Peace Poster: The results of the peace poster competition will be announced at a small assembly on Friday the 13th. (Just the Year 6 students will be in attendance). If your child is a winner, we will contact you early week 1, so that you can arrange someone to attend.  CONFIRMATION PREPARATION Our Confirmation Mass is set to take place on   Saturday the 28th of October at 6pm at Our Lady of the Southern Cross Parish . Week 6&7 - Term 3

  K AY A, We hope you enjoyed a little peace and quiet last week, whilst your child was having the time of their life at camp. Hopefully it didn't take them too long to recover from the epic adventure that it was. Luckily we had that perfectly timed long weekend as a chance to recharge for the remainder of the term. Camp 2023: There is no doubt your child was bursting at the seams to share their amazing tales and stories from camp, well after a bit of sleep...that is😊. We had the best time and the students made you guys very proud. They showed resilience and bravery in all activities, as well as kindness and respect to everyone around them. They were their teams' greatest cheer leaders, offering such wonderful support to each other. 💛 They completed any task that was asked of them with efficiency and no fuss. In the coming weeks the students will have access to a folder where they can view all the pictures taken by the teachers. You can then revisit the stories and activities
