Week 8 - Flynn and Sam

Kaya! we are currently in the noongar season of bunuru which means little to no rain or no rain. Traditionally this was, and still is, a good time for living and fishing by the coasts and rivers. It is all so when all the white flowers bloom including jarrah, marri, and ghost gums trees.

Literacy 😀

In literacy we have been writing our own version of the chronicles of Narnia. We have been watching short clips from the movie Narnia and writing our own version of the small clip that we watched. Narnia is an awesome movie/book I would highly recommend it.

Maths 😉

We have been learning about roman numerals and how to decode them. Mr mac has been giving us 2 or 3 sheets of maths on roman numerals. Its fun to decode them in maths.

Art

For art we painted our socks with fabric paint for down syndrome day on the 21st of march. It was so much fun painting our own socks, but it was a bit messy. Some of the socks look so cool.

Special Notes From Mr Mc

I was so happy to have my car washed last week, and based on this wonderful email we received so did others!! Well done Year 6 team!
"I wanted to quickly e-mail you to let you know I spent the weekend down in Dunsborough.
On Sunday I saw the sign for Car Wash – fundraising.
I brought my car through, and it was a pleasure to have it cleaned by the parents and children at your school.  The children looked happy (and wet) they were also over the moon my car was a little white fiesta (not a four-wheel drive).
What a lovely school you have!
I hope their hard work raised great funds.
 Have a great day."

Confirmation:
We have started our Religion unit of work on Confirmation this week. We first started by reflecting on Pentecost and the students explored how this links to Confirmation. Watch this space - there will be a Seesaw Post with the students recalling Pentecost in a comic book strip.
I have asked the students to start discussing their Confirmation Saint name with you. This week in class, we will start exploring Canonisation and Saints. The students will need to pick their Saint Name by Week 9. Please discuss as a family.
The current date for Confirmation on the school calendar is Saturday the 14th of May. Please know that plans may be subject to change, due to COVID. I suspect that we may have to hold the Sacrament over several dates to adhere to distancing requirements, but have yet to hear anything from the Bishop's office. All students are expected to attend on the day including candidates and buddies. Please let me know if you have any questions.
